Wonderful World of Handmade String Voodoo Dolls

The original hand made Voodoo Dolls and String Dolls first started from Thailand by a company called Saanha. These types of handmade string voodoos are all unique because of they way they are individually handmade.  You just can’t copy the cuteness of these. The first time I saw these voodoo dolls for sale I thought these are going to be huge for collectors and they will be the new beanie babies of this time.

The dolls are meant to bring you good health, luck, love all types of things via their magical powers, whether it is true or not doesn’t matter, they still look great.

Just look at them, the hand wound string dolls have great expressions on their faces, the eyes are wonderful and even their clothing and costumes look superb. The handmade string voodoo dolls look good as a  mobile phone charm or an excellent key-ring or even just a decoration hanging on your handbag. String dolls are said to be made from one single long thread that is usually a hemp twine but it could also be cotton embroidery thread. The twine is wrapped around and around to make the big round head and tiny body then additional thread is added for clothes and other items are used for decoration like swords, tools as such.

Handmade Voodoo string dolls seem to be popping up every where for collectors to buy and you can get all sorts of characters like love bears, ninjas, zombies, vampires, pretty fairies , football players, monkeys, mummies, monsters even movie characters – in fact just about anything you can think of.

It seems that these handmade string voodoo dolls started as small handcrafts in little villages across Thailand and from there spread around the world where they are super popular in the UK, US, Australia and nearly everywhere else.

And for the serious collectors I am thinking the one brand you must collect is an original Saanha, if you can find one. For the rest of us just get whatever one you like, hang it from your bag and wish for whatever it stands for comes true.  I hope that the handmade Voodoo string dolls touches something in your heart and that everything can be true if maybe you really believe it can.
